A few weeks ago, I added the Performance Journal to my toolkit. I like being able to list what I’ve accomplished to bring it into my awareness and reflect on it for a few minutes. However, the name bothers me. I don’t think it’s a good fit. Could we change it?
“Performance” implies a combination of effectiveness and efficiency; it carries an idea of transcendence, of surpassing oneself. But the whole point here is to be able to jot down big or small things to bring awareness to—and celebrate—what we’ve done in our daily lives. In that sense, the word “performance” seems counterproductive to me. Could we call it an “achievements journal” or an “accomplishments journal”?
